The inspirational climate strikes, which have brought out millions of students and workers on protests, as well as the Extinction Rebellion actions are part of this. Environmental demands are also part of the global revolts that have spread from South America across the globe.
But there is also reaction - climate denial from politicians like Bolsonaro and Trump; and now the re-election of Boris Johnson will make winning the radical action we need harder.
The Campaign Against Climate Change; Sheffield Climate Alliance; Sheffield Trades Council; Sheffield Extinction Rebellion and Youth Strike 4 Climate have come together to host this Climate Summit to discuss where we are at and how we can build in 2020. We hope that this event will allow serious discussion about jobs, climate justice, the Green New Deal and future climate strikes.
In November 2020 Britain will host the UN COP26 summit. This meeting will also begin to look at how we can all come together to mobilise for this from Sheffield.

Join this meeting to discuss how environmental activists, trade unionists and community activists can build for action in the North East for the next Global Climate Strike on April 3rd. We'll also be planning how we can support the crucial UN climate summit (COP26) to be held in Glasgow in November. This could include organising transport to Glasgow, taking part in local solidarity action, and also putting pressure on our own government to take real action on climate!

It’s time to pull together all of the groups in Norfolk that want to address the climate emergency. The next global climate strike is on Friday 3 April. COP26 takes place in Glasgow in November.
Other cities are organising climate summits and we are hoping to do the same in Norwich. This is an initial informal and friendly chat to get the ball rolling. Everyone is welcome.

The UK will be hosting the 2020 United Nations Climate Change Conference and so it is an increasingly important time for mobilising in preparation, especially following the failure of Climate Summit COP25 in Madrid last year.
The Climate Emergency is here and happening for all to see, with Australia and the Amazon burning, floods in Yorkshire and the Antarctic melting. Already, many communities in the UK and across the world are being affected. The political response has been pitiful and successive COP conferences have failed to materialise into action. It is time for the Trade Union movement to fully join the Climate resistance. The time is now. Join Liverpool Trade Union Council in this one-day conference to plan the next steps for union activists in Liverpool & Merseyside.
