Since May 2015 there have been alarming cuts to renewable energy and insulation funding. In December, our government signed a climate deal with apparently lofty ambitions, but there is no sign so far that any of this will translate into UK policies. Clean energy technology is being sidelined in favour of a dash for gas, with fracking, roads and runways pushed through despite strong local opposition.
Join our planning meeting and discuss how to raise wider awareness of what is going on - including our Going Backwards action on 8 May, marking one year since the election.
All welcome, we need your skills and ideas!

On Wednesday 24th February the Heathrow 13 will return to court for sentencing, having all been found guilty of aggravated trespass and entering the security restricted area of London Heathrow Airportβs (LHR) north runway to protest against plans for a third runway.
These brave activists have been told they are likely to face prison sentences - which would be the first time that a prison sentence had ever been given for aggravated trespass.
Join the solidarity protest from 9am, Willesden Magistrates Court, 448 High Road, London NW10 2DZ, nearest tube Neasden

The Campaign against Climate Change Trade Union Group meets every couple of months - the agenda this time is packed, covering reports back from international meetings, conferences in Sheffield and Manchester, mobilising around the Paris climate talks and the Trade Union Bill.
The meeting will be in in Committee Room 4, Camden Town Hall, Euston Road (across from St Pancras station), newcomers welcome.
Find out more about trade union involvement in climate campaigning here or contact kenmontague@msn.com if you can't make the meeting but would like to get involved.
This Manchester conference will examine climate politics in the run up to Paris. We'll discuss how climate change will impact upon people through inequality, refugees and racism. We will look at what can be done, and the alternatives to austerity and climate chaos such as One Million Climate Jobs. Groups involved include trade unionists, Oxfam, Friends of the Earth and other local groups. We want a bigger, stronger and more united environmental movement.
Come and join this discussion, which takes place after the Peoples' Assembly's week of Action against the Tory Party conference in Manchester.
let you know how you can get involved in actions in the UK and Paris - including what is expected to be the largest ever UK climate change demonstration on 29 November in London;
report back from an international conference in Paris called by the International Trade Union Confederation and CaCCTU on climate jobs and green union activism around the world;
establish the connections between divestment from fossil fuels and investment in climate jobs to create warm, healthy homes; public transport with low fares; and renewable energy infrastructure;
give you the tools to campaign on pension fund divestment within your union
The conference will be held at Sheffield College, which is an accessible location close to Sheffield train station. The event is supported by Sheffield Trades Union Council and Sheffield People's Assembly.
This event is ideal for anyone who wants to see a real alternative to austerity, unemployment and fuel poverty. It will highlight the importance of training for new jobs to tackle climate change, and the significance of divestment for a safe future, especially for the youth of today.
The End Austerity Now demonstration called by the People's Assembly challenges the position of all major parties - that we need to retreat into austerity. It calls for investment in our future, and we know that central to that investment must be action to tackle climate change. A fairer society in the UK today, and climate justice for all countries and for future generations are inextricably linked. Join the climate bloc and take the message forwards - It's Time to Act on Climate Change!
We will be meeting around the Monument to the Great Fire of London at 11.30 (near Monument Station) and then going up to Bank to join the main demonstration

The One Million Climate Jobs report shows how we can cut emissions through a million secure Government jobs in renewable energy; in increasing energy efficiency by insulating homes and public buildings; in hugely expanding cheap public transport to get people and freight onto cleaner forms of transit; and in developing the "green skills" that we need through education and training.

On January 5th with the support of Action for Rail, the Peoples Assembly are teaming up Bring Back British Rail, Compass, the Green Party, the Campaign against Climate Change, We Own It, and a variety of local groups to organise leafleting of commuters at railways stations. Later that week the Green Party MP, Caroline Lucas, will be presenting her private members bill calling for public ownership of railways. The Peoples Assembly is looking for people who are prepared to volunteer to distribute leaflets at their local railway station. Are you prepared to help?
If you would like to organise an action at a station, please contact Peter Robinson at peterfrobinson@ntlworld.com and say which station you can attend and state a preferred time.
As part of the One Million Climate Jobs initiative the Campaign Against Climate Change Trade Union group held a conference bringing together climate scientists, politicians, trade unionists & environmental activists.
The conference was fully packed, with people standing in the aisles.There was interesting debate and discussion on how we move forward as a movement, how trade unionists can bring the issue of climate change into their union branches as well as how globally Trade Unions are working on Energy Democracy Initiatives - that support demands by both environmental activists and trade unionists.
A hugely informative and somewhat unexpectedinsight came out of the weird weather workshop - Dave Green, Fire Brigades Union national officer for floods, gave us a background into the reality of dealing with the impacts of weird weather as well as the UK Government's unhelpful bureaucy.
There is no allocated Government spending for floods, and with floods rapidly on the increase due to extreme weather whilst austerity measures are biting the F.B.U., this is an enormous disaster waiting to happen.
With barriers being broken down between Climate scientists, trade unionists, environmentalists and politicians, the feeling leaving the conference was one of enthusiam and energy.
Despite the huge amount of information on the latest science, as well as difficult questions being asked about where we go next given the time we have, to have this feeling is immensely positive.
Thank you to all those who joined us!
