Race to Zero (Carbon by 2030!)

The London event for ZERO CARBON BRITAIN DAY - 21 July

"Planet in a spoon" race: Milly wins, preserving her planet intact up to the Zero Carbon by 2030 finish!

The London Zero Carbon Games took place at Euston Gardens outside the station - with participants having a lot of fun, and lots of engagement with the passing public.

Events included

Sprint to Zero Carbon...race against “Climate Apocalypse”
Planet-in-a-teaspoon race.......
Partnership for renewables (3-legged) race.....
(Sack) race to zero
Hurdles.....clear the hurdles of
Fracking and new fossil fuels - Osborne and sceptic
Tory cronies -  The Koch brothers and climate disinformation -  etc...etc...

Archery ...hit the zero carbon target...
Javelin...throw it all the way to zero....

The finishing line was always "Zero Carbon by 2030"

After the Games there was a “medal ceremony” - at Old Palace Yard outside Parliament (where we took our message for Zero Carbon by 2030).

Participants traveled there in style in a celebration of public transport on our ZCB Day Routemaster bus, specially hired for the occasion...and kitted out with banners to spread the message along the way.....

At the medal ceremony medals were awarded for the races .......and also for ‘special categories’ worst emitter, most  obnoxious denier, most obstructive government minister ..etc..etc...

It was a great, fun, family-friendly event with a serious message.....

Lining up for the race between "Climate Apocalypse" and the "Renewa(b)l(es) of Hope"

Meanwhile - if you haven't already done so - write to your MP to sign the CLIMATE EMERGENCY EDM (EDM 303) which calls for (amongst other things) a Zero Carbon Britian by 2030 - and has recently been retabled by John McDonnell MP
