Anti-Coal Vigil

Sep 14 2009 4:30 pm
Where:
outside DECC, 3 Whitehall Place, London

The public consultation on Kingsnorth closes on Wednesday the 9th of September. Ed Miliband will be making a final decision on the future of coal power in the UK.

At 4.30pm on Monday 14th September, we'll be gathering outside the DECC building in London. The demonstration will feature supporters from across the coalition, representing the wide range of public opposition to climate-wrecking dirty coal power.

We'll be setting up an exhibition outside DECC, made up of images of things or people we could protect from climate change by Miliband ruling out new coal in the UK.

Please bring images with you to add to the collection. These can be photos, cut outs from magazines, or drawings that you have created yourself. We are especially keen that families come along, and will have paper and crayons for the kids to make their own drawings whilst they are there.

The latest update is that it sounds likely that Ed Miliband will come and meet us and the heads of our organisations, so its really crucial that we have a good show of people and some good images to remind him of what we could save if he decides to rule out new coal, and what we will lose if he doesn't.

You can also sign up for the Big IF anti-coal campaign with Greenpeace or WDM.
