2. National anti-Fracking gathering
Come meet other groups campaigning against hydraulic fracturing - "fracking".
Get informed, meet anti-fracking campaigners from all around the country and get together to stop fracking in the UK NOW, before it gets a hold and becomes unstoppable.

Cuadrilla, the company that has been fracking for shale gas in Blackpool, is hoping to find further reserves in the Home Counties. Mark Miller CEO of Cuadrilla visited the Sussex village of Balcombe and got more than he bargained for. CCC campaigner Fiona reports.

3. Frack off Mob

4. Rio Alternative Conference
The Campaign against Climate Change is planning an 'Alternative Summit' for the weekend preceding the Rio Earth Summit (16th June).
This will be within the central London Universities (SOAS, IOE, Birbeck).

5. Social and meeting
The CCC London meeting will be held on Monday the 6th of February in the Housmans bookshop (5 Caledonian Road, London N1 9DX), from 6.45-8pm.

6. Climate change in the news – UK
The government lost its appeal against the court ruling that its cuts to solar feed-in-tariffs were unlawful, but is seeking permission to appeal again in the Supreme Court.
A handful of MPs blocked the Daylight Saving Bill by tabling wrecking amendments.
The controversial London-Birmingham high speed rail link has been given the go-ahead from Transport Secretary Justine Greening.
Boris Johnson briefed the Daily Telegraph that Cameron supported his idea for a new airport in the Thames Estuary. The Guardian gives a slightly different line
Climate change in the news – International
Obama refused permission for the Keystone XL tar sands pipeline. While TransCanada can reapply next year, this is a significant victory.
A draft of the development goals for the Rio +20 conference was leaked – and condemned for a ‘lack of urgency’.
A European Commission report found a 30% target for 2020 would be cheaper than expected while an unambitious 20% risks a return to high-carbon investment, making decarbonisation more painful in the long term
The IEA chief economist stated that phasing out global fossil fuel subsidies could take the world half way to necessary carbon cuts.
The Bank of England governor is warned that fossil fuels are sub-prime assets, since to stay within 2C just 20% of existing fossil fuel reserves can be burned.
The Bulgarian government refused Chevron permission to frack for shale gas after massive demonstrations.
