London

CCC London meets monthly, though there are also various specialised sub-group meetings, extraordinary meetings etc.. Everyone who has signed up to the email list (eg through the Join/Donate page on the website) and has given us an adress in London or the Home Counties (Essex, Kent, Surrey, Herts, Beds, Bucks) should get email notification of the meetings - but if you are not getting this for some reason, let us know. Alternatively use the contact numbers above to find out about the next CCC London Meeting - or any of the extra meetings.

Though London functions largely as a single unit, there are also some smaller local groups within London (with plenty of overlap between the activities of the smaller local groups and the bigger London group):

Derby CCC has been campaigning to get Derby Council to reduce its greenhouse gas emissions by 25% in five years. See petition here. Climate change is a TU issue: we need to transform recession and unemployment into a new economy of green jobs.

Established in November 2006, PCAN is a local voluntary group concerned about the significant dangers posed by man-made climate change. Our primary aim is to ensure that the issue is tackled at a local level i.e. in Portsmouth, through education, mitigation and adaptation. We also believe that attitude and behaviour change at a local level can have a material influence on what happens nationally and globally. We are one of a growing number of local climate change groups and are part of the Stop Climate Chaos alliance.

PCAN is campaigning for:
Portsmouth (that's everyone!) to achieve an annual carbon emission reduction target of at least 3% per annum
The creation and ongoing measurement of a carbon footprint for Portsmouth
Portsmouth City Council establishing a strong and visible climate change strategy (including planning policy) in line with many other cities in the UK
Portsmouth City Council leading a publicity campaign on both carbon reduction and climate change adaptation in the City.
