International Demonstrations
on Climate Change

Saturday, December 3rd

To coincide with the 'MOP' Climate talks in Montreal,
                      November 28th-9th December

This webpage has been set up to publicise and promote the plans - endorsed by the Assembly of Movements of the World Social Forum in January 2005 - for international demonstrations on climate change, to coincide with the Climate Conference (First 'Meeting of Parties' to the Kyoto Protocol) in Montreal, November 28th to December 9th, 2005.

We intend synchronised demonstrations around the world - in as many places as possible - to press for urgent action on climate change and directed, in particular against the Bush administration in the US for its failure to ratify Kyoto. The date - Saturday December 3rd - has been chosen because it is the Saturday, mid-way through the Talks.

We feel that there is an overwhelming need for international demonstrations on climate change both to put pressure on the US to ratify Kyoto, and to highlight the urgency of the climate crisis, in general. We need to create a groundswell of global opinion to push for the urgent and radical action, without which we risk a global catastrophe of unimaginable proportions. We believe that the Montreal Climate Talks represent the best opportunity for coordinated international action on climate change, within the next year or so.

Support the Call to Action

Help build momentum for the climate demonstrations by supporting the 'Call to Action' below.

We support the call for international demonstrations - that is demonstrations on the same day in as many countries around the world as possible - on Saturday 3rd December 2005, timed to coincide with the 'MOP' Climate Talks (28th November to 9th December) in Montreal. These demonstrations will demand that the USA and Australia ratify the Kyoto Protocol immediately, and that the entire world community move as rapidly as possible to a stronger emissions reductions treaty that will be both equitable and effective in stabilising 'greenhouse' gases and preventing dangerous climate change.

To support this Call please email info@globalclimatecampaign.org with the name of your organisation (other contacts below).

This will then help us to build momentum for the demonstrations and promote them to other people and organisations. In due course we will publish the various plans for action on the 3rd December, from around the world.
